Prophet
From Muftipedia
A prophet is a messenger sent by Allah to guide a nation. This was different for the final Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) as he was not only sent to the Arabs, but to the whole of mankind, to show them the light, the guidance of their Lord and the right way.

[edit] Prophets
- Allah sent over 25,000 Prophets to guide mankind. They did not all come at once but rather, came at different periods of time, some at the same time as another, whereas others, like the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him came when no other Prophet was present.
[edit] Names of a few of the prophets
- Prophet Adam عليه السلام
- Prophet Nuh عليه السلام
- Prophet Isa عليه السلام
- Prophet Musa عليه السلام
- Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم
[edit] Rasool
A Rasool was a messenger of Allah who was given a new Sharee'ah (codes of law) from Allah.
[edit] Nabi
A Nabi was also a messenger of Allah, but he was not given any new Sharee'ah and followed the sharee'ah of earlier Rasool.
- Sheikh Mufid, a great scholar of Islam writes in his book, Awa’il al-Maqalat, “every messenger is a Nabi (Prophet), but not every Prophet is a Rasool (Apostle).
